Sweet Matcha Loose Tea
I’ve found that sweet matcha works much better than unsweetened to get the Starbucks taste. The Matcha powder that I use is Rishi Sweet Matcha Tea, Japanese Green Tea Powder, 4.4 Oz.
Serving: 1 tbsp every 8 oz.
Price: $8.58 on Amazon, $9.99 in stores.
You can use any milk you would like but I personally use Almond Unsweetened Vanilla Milk. You could also use Sweetened Vanilla Almond Milk.
Serving: 8 oz/ 1 cup
Price: $3.00-4.00 depending on store or brand.
Any honey is good to sweeten this drink up. Recently I used Manuka Honey too. Manuka honey has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant benefits. For the Nature Nate’s 100% Pure Raw & Unfiltered Organic Honey, 16 oz:
Serving: 1 TBSP
Price: $7.00-$9.00 depending on honey
Right now cold is my favorite for summer. Start off by putting one tbsp of the matcha powder in a cup. Next put just enough water (only a little bit) in the cup to break up the powder. This makes it more of a liquid form. Next, add 8 oz of the milk of your choice. Add honey or vanilla to your liking. Whisk until all is mixed. I use these little whisks from Amazon: HONBAY Mini Wire Kitchen Whisks-Each of 2PCS 5 Inches and 7 Inches. Lastly, fill with Ice to your liking.
Add one tbsp of Matcha powder into 2 oz of hot water. Whisk until it is completely mixed. Heat milk up over the stove or use a frother. Fortunately we have a frother because my dad is low-key a barista. This automatically heats up the milk and adds a little bit of foam.
Overall, this at home drink would cost around $18.00 for all the ingredients. The Matcha powder makes 9-10 drinks. The honey could supply many drinks and the almond milk has around 8 cups. This would make 9-10 drinks around $2.50. So much better than $5.00+. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
